green energy, sustainable energy, energy energy energy.

and yet, unlimited population growth with limited available supplies (earth) = gaurenteed collapse. if every person on earth ate 800 calories a day, and consumed 0 gasoline or energy outside of food, we would still come to a point of world collapse based solely on our population growth.

will the earth be able to figure this out before it's too late?

Thats why hitler had it right. We need to start erradicating entire populations. I dont mean in the Nazi sorta way, i mean this in the support the down fall of the world kinda way. Seeing as the degradation of the world will only be stopped if we remove that which is causing its degradation.

jew do play victim, they play it hard.

basically, it's a whole generation of peoples who have been taught they were victims, that they were "chosen" by god, and that a particular strip of land is theirs to take back (they'll tell you: they bought it fair and square a LONG ass time ago). They believe in conquest (americans "manifest destiny" is an analogous concept), and are childishly bitter about not being on top of the world in every single way. Basically, they've been taught that they are more important than the rest of us "gentiles", and they have been taught this at length, for their entire lives. It gives them a friggin complex that doesn't mesh with modern societal progress, nor logic. That's why they are sensitive about it, nobody lies to themselves more than jews.

^ see what I did there?

This is the concept for how a subject becomes taboo. The above passage did not have to be phrased in absolutes, but it was easier to just say "jew" rather than "my friend, his family, extended family, friends from israel, the kind of people he finds on plurspace, etc". Cuz frankly, he surrounds himself with these people, and they all seem to have this same issue. Now, if we think about how far back this grudge against jews goes, and how easy it is to resort to absolutes, then we can realize how all the anti-antisemitism and anti-anti-antisemitism got started. Basically: we stop being lazy and generalizing, you stop thinking so friggin highly of yourselves. No one likes a showboat and as far as the rest of the world is concerned, you are of no more worth than any other human being on this planet. Stop being butthurt about that fact.

^ Use of "you" is meant for anyone who takes it upon themselves to feel targeted by these 2 posts.

This is always a good time. I remember doing this once several years ago and getting similar results, though I think I may have been a little bit higher on the Authoritarian scale. As it is now, I'm right on the same spot as Ghandi... I never thought I had much in common with him, but I guess I do - seems a good enough reason to read up some about his political ideas; all I really know about him is his struggle for independence from England, don't really know much about his ideas on how a government should work. The Political Compass always give some good food for thought.

There was a huge op-ed in the current Nature regarding the use of cognitive-enhancers for healthy individuals.

It was far too long to post, but it's a great read.

Call me "Jon Borg, the super Atheist". I am a man who believes in logic, science, and other... crap. I'm about as Atheist as you can get, and yet... NOT one of those idiots trying to take "God" off the pledge of allegiance OR off currency... I don't see a point in that. If Atheists involved in politics had a real brain they would focus more on getting rid of the FCC... but a golden rule is to be learned here... even people wise enough not to believe in Virgin births and floating dead guys can be just as inept (if not more so) than those who DO believe in such things (perhaps including myself... though I hope not).
Frank Zappa was obviously an Atheist, there is little to dispute about that. He mocked (humorously might I add) religions round the world. But he focused MUCH more on 1st amendment (In the U.S. for those reading this outside this great country) rights of citizens. Though Zappa did in both song and speech educate people about the foolishness of organized religion.
HOWEVER, I have gone beyond just criticizing religion (which I believe is my duty) but have shouted words of hate towards religious people and mocked them publicly (not to harshly, but still inappropriately in my opinion), I have done this mainly because of the motivation of Richard Dawlkins who told Atheists to "come out of the closet". However I am beginning to think I have taken it a bit to far. Though I don't believe I should EVER hide the fact that I am Atheist from ANYBODY (even if I go into politics, which I plan to do) I should NEVER shout words of hate for religion. The way to get religious people to stop being religious is usually NOT going around calling them morons (because that just makes them angry and cling to their faith even stronger than before), but rather share/offer information to them.
Frank Zappa (I believe) did not mock individual people because of their religion (I could be quite wrong... but I don't know EVERYTHING about the guy). Rather he hated the churches who were selling this empty mind enslaving product religion.
But I have noticed from people like Bill Ares who made the movie Religulous that nobody (other than people who are already Atheists) re

I've been thinking about this whole *chan cancer problem, specifically, fighting it and what comes along with that.

Every "successful" (populated, something to offer) *chan has ended up with cancer. Why does this happen? Is it possible to have a large *chan without this cancer?

I'm wondering why the mods on other *chans don't fight their cancer, and if it's just something that comes along with a hefty user base, if it's necessary.

Clearly it is always necessary to guard against it, but it just seems like the *cancer is maybe...part of the definition of what makes a *chan? What do you think? Can we have one with out it? Were there good chans with out it?

as what happened with 4chan-
nobody cares anymore.

But as the new users on 4chan grow tired of it, they will move to a new *chan, and the cycle will continue.

We can see this starting to happen with 7chan.

A way to avoid it may be to take cues from the Japanese boards, like 2ch.

They have set it up so there are so many boards, including multiple randoms, that the population gets spread out. With less people per board, the issues that develop from overpopulation (the cancer) are lessened.

On top of this, the user-base has a much higher self-moderation policy. They will completely ignore most trolls, and ignore generally idiotic posts. But this method is unlikely to occur on any American *chans.

I was finishing this psychology exam due for today [have to hand it in in a couple of minutes] and I'm looking for an example of Albert Bandura's theory. Haven't been able to think of any example at the moment... Maybe it's the pressure of the time I have left.
Thanks in advance /int/

Let me see if I have this right...

• If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're "exotic, different."
• Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, you're a quintessential American story.

• If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
• Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick.

• Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.
• Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.

• If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750 ,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.
• If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.

• If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within a mainline Protestant church (the United Church of Christ), you're not a real Christian.

Obamas political theories and practices are not in question here. All that is being observed is whether or not he's fit for office. You can argue against our cut and run, our blatent disregard for garrenteed rights, but in the end, they CAN be argued. Even if those argueing for these might be a little mentally unsound.
Also, this is more of a comparison between the public reaction to these two figures.

You mean that the universe itself is just one of an infinite number of universes, yes?

I think that is called Coke Bottle Theory. Our universe is compared to a bubble of carbonation in a bottle of Coca Cola, and that there are an infinite number of other universes existing simultaneously.

No from there we can take tangent universe theory and apply it to all those other universes.
